RAMBLING #1: Field Recordings is here!
Like a newly planted woodland or a tidal ecosystem, the outcome of RAMBLING was to develop unpredictably. As with any new project, one starts with a seed, unattentively watching it grow until you comprehend its leaf, stem, and bud. My seed felt more of an itch to begin with - an irritating longing for the natural spaces and practices which I grew up around. To scratch such an itch (or sew the seed) I have given RAMBLING space. Space for growth, change, a choice of inhabitant, and surrounding design. So in the spirit of its name, I decided to dedicate this first issue to the field.
#1 was kept pretty close to home, my fellow midlands ramblers Kat O’Sullivan and Will Robinson offered up their skills - Kat’s beautiful designs feature throughout and Will finishes the publications with a wonderfully eclectic mix fit for the fields. Old friends Harry Clayton-Lucey and Will Rogers-Coltman contribute their writing, alongside myself, and in distant lands folkloric artist Lucian Barbu paints the landscape of the publication with his wonderful artwork.
A5, Riso printed with Page Masters.
