RAMBLING #2: Shores Beyond came at the end of a long summer drenched in violet. Its warmth and gradual closure brought a sense of dissatisfaction, unknowingly recognised by all our contributors. This issue waves farewell to summer, exploring growth, melancholy, and departure all faced by our contributors against the backdrop of the vast, unknown, and never-ending sea.

All proceeds donated to MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians)

This issue features:

Graphic design by Kat O'Sullivan and Coco Cunningham

After by Mariam Khateeb, translated in both Arabic and English. Through poetry and storytelling, she seeks to document what is lost and celebrate what still resists. Mariam currently lives in Egypt, where she continues her studies after surviving the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

In Bodies of Water by Isobel Salt, the writer exchanges words of wisdom with eco critical forefathers Walt Whitman and Herman Melville, exploring the unanswered questions that remain beneath the shores.

Taking the waters by Tom Kew Gregory observes the scratching life of Hastings, burying his feet into the sands of community, and working out what was revealed.

Sound, Sea & Reggae by Ibou Dia seeks to find connection through music, how something lost gets found, and how in looking, it sleeps, grows and often turns to something new. Accompanied with music by Oscillation.

In The Crab by Hart by William Rogers-Coltman, sat in a dampened pub, a crab recalls a tale of fear and loss, romance and idle love, the history of it’s complicated and enduring life…
